Hancock -- Charles Raymond Wheeler, 86, died November 16, 2016 at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born in Village of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, March 13, 1930 the son of Charles R. and Erma (Childs) Wheeler.

Charles proudly served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He and his wife Joanne (Root) lived in CT. in the early years and raised their family. While in CT. he worked for the Kodak Co. and Pratt & Whitney in the evenings and sold real estate for Robert Stack Reality during the day. The family moved to Maine in 1971. He worked for Fred. W. Beal for 5 years then went out on his own as Charlie Wheeler Heating Service. He was on the Hancock Volunteer Fire Dept and helped establish the Hancock Volunteer Police Dept. and served as chief for many years, he also served as a Hancock Selectman and was very involved in the Hancock community.

He is survived by daughters, Laurie Davis and fiancée Steve Narauska of Hampden, Nancy Robbins and husband Keith of Hancock; sons, Charles Robert Wheeler of Hancock, Thomas Wheeler and wife Lona of Franklin; sister, Ethel Smith of Coventry, CT; brother, Ralph Wheeler of MA.; 6 grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Robbins, Shannon and Sean Davis, Lucas Wheeler and Brock Jones; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne; grandson, Robert Davis; and brother, Earl.

Calling hours will be held 2:00-4:00 Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth where a funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Monday, November 21 with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock.
