Life Story for Mollie H. Frost

Mollie H. Frost
Bar Harbor -- Mollie H. Frost, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, November 20, 2017 in Bar Harbor. She was born July 7, 1931 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Milton Stanley and Mildred Verna (Gray) Hanscom.

She was hired by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Co. at age 17 and worked there for 45 years before retiring at age 62. In her quiet time, she enjoyed reading, knitting and bird watching. Most days you could find her sitting on her front porch visiting with neighbors. She also spent many summers camping at Parks Pond, surrounded by family and friends.

Always more comfortable giving rather than receiving, Mollie was active in the community. She was a member of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, spent many years volunteering for Meals For Me and Island Connections, and could often be found helping the elderly. She taught her children the importance of helping others within the community and having compassion for those in need.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 66 years Donald M. Frost and their three children, Nykki Grindle and her husband, Thomas, of Seal Harbor; Paula Lamoureux and her husband, Peter, of Southwest Harbor; and Thomas Frost of Calais, VT. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Christopher Stanley, Michelle Perry, and Samuel Frost; and two great grandchildren, Sadie Perry and Emma Stanley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Percy R. Hanscom of Auburn; dear friends Theresa Smith and Louise Moore both of Bar Harbor. Mollie was also predeceased by Fred and Florence Ames of Bar Harbor, who welcomed her into their home in her younger years.

Memorial services will be held in the spring of 2018.

Contributions in Mollies’ memory may be made to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605 or to a charity of one’s choice.
