Robert Evans, the beloved husband of Penny, died, very peacefully, at home, on October 2nd, 2017, after a short struggle with lung cancer. He was born on February 2nd 1940, the son of Robert D. and Margery (James) Evans.

Born with a great zest for life, Robert threw himself wholeheartedly into every endeavor. He studied hard academically, and obtained his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Cambridge University, UK, and his Ph.D and D.Sc from London University. He had also been a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. He travelled world wide giving seminars on his work in cancer research. He leaves an extensive body of work for the benefit of all people.

Robert was a sports fanatic, playing rugby, cricket, soccer and tennis through high school, played rugby for Cambridge University, and Blackheath Rugby Club, London. He played tennis, squash and racquet ball until his knees began to complain. An avid fan of the NE Patriots, Welsh rugby and All Blacks rugby, he enthusiastically and loudly cheered and coached his team from our family room.

He was a keen cook, specializing in Indian food, his absolutely favorite cuisine. All the family and many friends have enjoyed his wonderful meals. He also enjoyed building construction and carpentry. He built and repaired many parts of our home. He accepted all requests for furniture making, and completed many pieces for the whole family.
Robert was also a collector of antique pewter, glass and 19th century literature. He researched the origins of the pieces, makers, dates and place of origin. An avid reader, he always had a book nearby.

After retirement, Robert became engrossed in Dark Age history, in particular the Arthurian legends. He strongly believed that Arthur was a Welsh warlord. After several years of study, he taught 6 courses for Acadia Senior College entitled "Discovering Arthur". He has also completed a book on the topic, which we will have published shortly.
He was a wonderful storyteller, inventing stories for his children and grandchildren on a daily basis, quick with a joke, and laughed easily and often.

Robert is survived by his dearly loved wife, Penny, of Somesville, and beloved family, son Tim Evans and wife Annemarie, grandchildren Thibault and Margot, of Holliston, MA, daughter Alexa Schnauck and husband John, grandchildren Tyler and Eliza, of Marshfield MA, a sister, Margery (Peggy) Horwood and husband Graham, sister in law Linda Booth and husband George. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Samantha.

Arrangements are private, but a celebration of his extraordinary life will be held at a later date.
