Obituary for Donna Lee Rivers (Atkinson)
Sullivan -- Donna Lee Rivers, 52, passed away September 28, 2017 at her home in Sullvian. She was born in Quonset, RI, May 20, 1965, the daughter of the late Gary Albert and Constance (Torrey) Atkinson.
Donna enjoyed traveling back and forth across the country with her husband Archie and her 3 loving sons, Addison, Nicholas, and Benjamin during her honorable career as a U. S. Coast Guard wife and mother. After retirement they settled in Sullivan in her well deserved permanent residence. She loved to work in her garden and compete against her three boys come harvest time. She also enjoyed collecting various antiques to display in her home. She loved to laugh and enjoy life, and enjoyed a good prank she often pulled on her children. On weekends she looked forward to grandchildren time spending the evenings reading “Little Critters” until they fell asleep, and swimming in her pool or relaxing on the porch swing on summer evenings. She will be sadly missed by all she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Archie E. Rivers, III; sons, Addison Rivers and wife Jollean of Franklin, Nicholas Rivers and fiancée Felecia Tapley of Sullivan, Benjamin Rivers and fiancée Emily Giffin of Bangor; two grandchildren, Little Addison and Able of Franklin; sister, Michelle Johnson and husband Allen of Birch Harbor; brother, Gary of Sullivan; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Christine Eva Rivers.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, October 6, 2017 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Winter Harbor with Pastor Troy Carver officiating.
