Obituary for Edward Phelps Grace Jr.

Edward Phelps  Grace Jr.
Ellsworth/Gouldsboro -- Edward P. Grace, Jr., 92, a long time resident of Gouldsboro, passed away May 11, 2017 in Ellsworth. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Ed was of The Greatest Generation, born in Springfield, MA to the late Edward P. and Olive (McGowan) Grace, Sr.

He graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, MA and Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Immediately following his high school graduation, Ed served 3 years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, having served his country with honor and valor. Ed utilized his education to good advantage, working for Spaulding, C.H. Dexter and then as a consulting management engineer, with his last position at Eastern Maine Healthcare in Bangor. He loved his family, music and golf. His favorite hobby was lobstering for many years. He was a former Gouldsboro selectman and a member of the Winter Harbor Lodge No. 192.

He is survived by his children, Edward (Holly) P. Grace, III of Palm Beach, FL; Gail (Sam) Grace Aills of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandsons, James J. Shea, Edward P. Grace, IV, Charles H. Grace, and Samuel P. Grace. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth J. Grace; daughter, Sarah H. Grace; brother, Allen Grace; and sister, Beverly Grace Bulkley.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.
