Ellsworth -- Margaret Stewart Patten, 92, passed away at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital on March 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Portland, ME on October 15, 1924 the daughter of John and Charlotte (Lunt) Stewart.

Margaret graduated from Freeport High School, class of 1942. After high school, she worked for a number of years at the Freeport Shoe Factory. Margaret moved to Ellsworth in the late 60’s where she worked at the local textile mill, and Strong Craft Gallery. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls. Margaret was a kind and loving mom, wife and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Maurice “Pat” C. Patten; daughter, Charlene E. Gianios and husband Chris of Mechanicsburg, PA.; son-in-law, Alan Grant of Hancock; grandchildren, Michael Belanger, Stephen Grant and Christy Gianios III; great-grandson, Jacob Grant. She was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert E. Withee; and daughter, Patricia Grant.

The family thanks the exceptional staff of the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, ME for their superb care, professionalism, and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, ME on Sunday, April 9th at 2PM.
