The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William Knight can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Hilda Lynch
Condolence: To Buzz's family,
I was so sorry to hear of Buzz's passing, although we visited him on Monday of the week he passed away and knew he didn't look well. It was hard seeing him so sick. My brother, Brien Lynch, was Buzz's roommate for 2 or 3 years at Togus. My brother was, also, a Marine, and there was a lot of arguing back and forth about who was the best Marine. My brother was in the Marines for four years as an enlisted man who obtained the rank of Staff Sargeant. Since Buzz was an officer, they continually went back and forth about who was the best. I think they enjoyed bantering back and forth and it added to their days. I used to bring them all food when we visited until I started seeing signs in the elevator about not giving food to other patients. After that, I always asked if they could have it, and usually, they would allow Buzz to have whatever I brought. I didn't know about Buzz's bravery as a pilot until we saw the article in his room the last time we visited. He was certainly a brave Marine who gave great sacrifices for his country. I always enjoyed seeing Buzz when visiting at Togus for so many years - even after they separated him and Brien. Brien passed away last year, so I know it will be a difficult time for the family to deal with Buzz's passing. My prayers go out to Buzz and his family. Sincerely, Hilda
