Obituary for Liane "Ann" Peach (Nickerson)

Liane "Ann" Peach (Nickerson)
BAR HARBOR – Liane (Ann) Peach died peacefully on February 26 2017. She was born December 29, 1931 in Bar Harbor to Silvia (Dyer) and Wilbert W. Nickerson.

Liane graduated from Bar Harbor High School, and later in life from Husson University with a BA in Business Management. Liane married high school sweetheart Arden Peach in 1951 and they shared over 65 years of love and life together in Bar Harbor.

Liane worked for the Jackson Lab before staying at home to raise their three children. During this time Liane provided childcare for many of her family and friends creating what would later become known as home daycare. She was lovingly known as Aunt Ann to all of her “Kids” and enjoyed remaining in contact with them through the years.

In 1969 she joined a group of local organizers who were working to establish the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. Liane played an integral part in the early formation of the college, and remained there for over 25 years as Business Manager. Liane thoroughly enjoyed her time at COA, and what started as a job became a second family that she loved.

Liane and Arden built a wonderful camp at Little Webb Pond in Waltham, where they enjoyed family and friends for close to 50 years. Camp became one of their favorite places, and the people of Waltham and the Little Webb community held a very special place in Liane’s heart.

Liane is survived by her loving husband Arden; sister Louine Young; sisters-in-law Eleanor Raynes and Edna Hamor; children Cynthia Peach and Husband James Chaput, Daniel Peach and partner Ricky Dyer, Douglas Peach and wife Ellen; grandchildren Elizabeth Chaput, Thomas Chaput, Kate Peach, Kristen Peach, Ben Peach, Emma Peach and Adam Peach; and great-grandson Raylen Dye;r and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday March 2, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth, Maine 04605.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The MDI Hospital Auxiliary; Mount Desert Island Hospital, Office of Advancement, P.O. Box 8, Bar Harbor, ME. 04609, or, College of the Atlantic, Development Office, 105 Eden Street, Bar Harbor, ME. 40609
