The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charles Herrick can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Sue Hersey
Condolence: So sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. He was a volunteer in my fourth grade classroom for 20 years. He was amazing with the students, encouraged their thinking with his questions, and always brought smiles with his humor and gentle teasing. I also enjoyed years singing with him in the Acadia Chorale. He will be dearly missed, and I will cherish my memories.

Condolence: I’m sorry to hear this sad news. Chuck was a foundation stone of the Communication Department, and worked hard to establish the program. He was a great influence on me as a new professor, and he always had a smile and a story for everyone. He was delighted to have moved “up the hill” to what we now call the Communication Building, and I’m sure he would be proud that his efforts helped make Eastern better. I never see a kayak without thinking of Chuck!

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. He and I taught together many years, he in Communication and I in Physics at Eastern Connecticut State University. We also sang together in Eastern's chorus. The most memorable performance for me was a concert version of Gian Carlo Menotti's opera Amahl and the Night Visitors with Chuck in the tenor role as Kaspar. one of the Three Kings, and Dr. Eldon Downing and myself as the other two. We had a great and rewarding time doing that. I shall remember his warm personality, and how supportive he was of the University's activities including the ECSU College Bowl . He was a valued colleague and friend. My best wishes and condolences go out to his family.
