Jean B. Beckmann, 87, died June 16, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
She was born July 10, 1928 in Somerville, MA the daughter of George Clarence and Ethel Mae (Honey) March.

Jean graduated from Wilfred Academy in 1952 with a certification in cosmetology. She worked in cosmetology on and off for a number of years. Jean and her husband Carlton “Bud” Beckmann who was in the U.S. Navy for 25 years were stationed at many statewide and overseas facilities. Jean served as President of the officer’s wives’ club. Bud and Jean both became underwriters for Franklin Life Insurance. They spent many summers at their cottage at Shady Nook in Trenton, before moving here permanently upon retirement. Jean worked at JJ Newberry’s and for a brief time as a secretary for Ashmore Color Time. She took many classes in creative writing and enjoyed writing poetry. Jean had 4 poems published and 11 children’s stories. She won an Editions Choice awards for her poetry. Jean enjoyed bowling, roller skating and dancing. She spent 59 years and an active and devoted lifetime member of the Eastern Star and Irene Chapter O.E.S. where she served as a Past Grand Chapter of the State of Maine in 2000, District Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Representatives of Mississippi in Maine, and many other officers thru the years.

Jean is survived by her son, Donald C. Beckmann of Sullivan; daughters, Carla J. Perrott and husband David of Parkton, MD., Jeanne L. Milano and husband Raymond of N. Bethesda, MD, Judith A. MacLean and husband Jonathan of Windham, NH; four grandsons, Ryan, Mathew and Brady Perrott and Jonathan MacLean; one granddaughter, Lauren MacLean; one brother, Charles Hatfield; and a sister, Joyce Mota of Providence RI. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carlton “Bud” B. Beckmann on August 2, 2011 and three sisters, Thelma, Priscilla and Geraldine.

Calling hours will be held 10:00-11:00, June 29, 2016 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth with a funeral service at 11:00 including an O.E.S. service. A graveside committal will be held 12:00, June 30, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
