Bar Harbor -- Allan Edward Ott, 64, died November 21, 2018 at MDI Hospital, Bar Harbor. He was born at a very young age on November 17, 1954 in Plainfield, NJ the son of Albert E. and Marion A. (Mitchell) Ott.

Allan graduated in 1972 from Simsbury High School in Simsbury, Connecticut. He attended the University of Maine, Orono and received his BS in Natural Resources. He later received an associate degree as a Para-Legal from the University of Maine, Augusta. Allan spent the majority of his work life as a Site Evaluator and Soil Scientist in Natural Resource Management. He was later the Register of Deeds for Hancock County.

Allan was married to Jeanne C. (Adams) on August 27, 1977 in Old Town, ME. They spent 41 years of marriage together. Because of his love of nature Allan spent time exploring MDI, camping, canoeing, and fishing. He especially enjoyed his time spent on Molasses Pond with his grandchildren William and Thor. Allan was an avid reader. He was an amazing and very talented musician. He enjoyed writing, playing guitar and listening to music (especially his favorite group, The Grateful Dead). Allan was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity at UMO and a past member of the Parish Council St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Manset. He was also a member of the Maine Association of Site Evaluators (MASE) and the Maine Association of Professional Soil Scientists (MAPSS).

Allan is survived by his beloved wife; mother, Marion Ott; sister, Alice Mayer and her husband Bill Tenero; brother, John Ott and his wife Shannon; daughter Autumn Carter and her sons, William and Thor; nephew and godson Ethan Ott and wife Melissa and their daughter Clara, niece Janna and her husband Ryan Willmaser; niece Shannon Cox and husband Joe and her children Tanner and Owen Cornett. He is also survived by his wife’s family, brother and sister in law Lawrence and Nancy Adams and their children: nephew Max Adams and his wife, Caley; niece Samantha Adams and husband Mark Bullock; niece Kelsey Snyder and husband Andrew and their daughter Sadie; niece, Brooke Adams; and his canine companion Smokie and feline friend Ozzy. Allan was predeceased by his father, Albert; brother Brian; mother in law and step father in law Marion and Victor Carrier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed 4 pm, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor.
