Ellsworth--Mary Carolyn Kelley (nee Carney), born July 2, 1941 in Ellsworth the daughter of David A. Carney and Honor Elizabeth O'Dowd. Mary passed away quietly on the 13th of August, 2018 in Bangor.

Mary is survived by her son Matthew Kelley; her daughter-in-law Lori; her siblings Ann (Carney) Jordan and David W. Carney; sister-in-laws Donna Kelley and Cindy Carney, along with her much adored nieces and nephews Michael Jordan, Mary Jordan Martel, Patrick Jordan, Teresa Higgins, Jennifer King and David R. Carney, Kate Kelley Stone, Michael Kelley, Christopher Kelley and Kim Kelley..... She loved watching our family evolve with the arrival of the great nieces and nephews and loved her formal title of "Old Aunt Mary." Her oldest nephew, Michael, was a dedicated and caring nephew for her over her last few years. She was predeceased by her husband James Kelley; her parents; along with her two brothers-in-law Ronald Jordan and Terry Kelley; and her sister-in-law Pat Kelley.

Mary was born and raised in Ellsworth where she attended and graduated from Ellsworth High School the Class of 1959. She went on to graduate from the Farmington State Teaching College with a degree in Education. She and her husband worked in education for the State of Maine in Brewer and Madison. They retired and returned to Ellsworth to be closer to family. Mary loved teaching reading to children and enjoyed opening their eyes to the adventure and wonder that books brought to them. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious to all around her.
