Obituary for Sheila Salsbury Morse McManus (Salsbury)

Otis -- Sheila Salsbury Morse McManus, 57, died unexpectedly June 30, 2018 at home. She was born April 12, 1961 in Ellsworth, the daughter of Errold M. and Margaret E. (Smith) Salsbury.

Sheila attended Ellsworth High School, class of 1979 and spent time living in California during her junior year. She graduated from Husson University in 1983, with a BS in Business Administration; she was a member of the sorority Epsilon Tau Epsilon. Sheila had many professions, and she excelled at them all. She worked primarily in financial roles, most recently for Dahl-Chase in Bangor and WesMac Boats in Surry. She was also working at China Hill off and on for the past 30 years as well as the Log Cabin in Bar Harbor. She was a teacher for a time and a foster parent for 10 years. Her greatest role was that of mother and grandmother. Though she worked tirelessly she always made time for her six grandchildren whom she adored and is certainly adored by.Sheila loved the winters she spent in Florida and enjoyed watching Patriots football as well as NASCAR. She was involved in various churches throughout the years. Most of all she cherished time spent with family and friends. She had a smile that would melt an iceberg and made even a stranger an instant friend.

Sheila is survived by her daughter, Megan Black and her husband, Richard of Otis; her son, Robert Morse of Gouldsboro; six grandchildren, James and Mackenzie Black of Otis, Jordyn and Parker Morse and Lily Massicotte of Trenton and Cameron Morse of Gouldsboro; her brother, Blaine Salsbury and his wife Sandy of Otis; niece, Amanda Salsbury of Ellsworth and nephew Jason Salsbury of Otis. She was a mother to many others including Valerie Hodgdon, Renee Lichterman and Joseph “JJ” Stachon. Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Errold M. and Margaret “Peggy” Salsbury; husband, William R. McManus Sr.; step-son William “Bilbo” McManus Jr; step-father, Philip Kane.

Friends are invited to call, 5-7 pm Monday, July 9, 2018 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth where funeral services will be held 1 pm, Tues, July 10, 2018.
