Obituary for Patricia A. Farr (Hooper)

BROOKSVILLE - Patricia A. (Hooper) Farr, 75, of Brooksville, died Friday, June 22, in Bangor after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Pat was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on June 16, 1943, the daughter of Clifton and Helen (Gillick) Hooper.

Pat is survived by her husband of 50 years, Philip Farr of Brooksville; son, Shawn Duffy and wife, Michelle, of Brooksville; daughter, Kelly Sommer and husband, Lee, of Orland; grandchildren, Moriah Duffy, Sierra Duffy, and Carla Savage, of Maine; Ashley and Ryan Kocourek, of Florida; great-grandchildren, Korbin, Taylor, and Lura, of Florida; Nira, Aiden, and Austin, of Maine; sister, Pam Tobey and brother-in-law, Steve, of Sedgwick; brother-in-law, James Farr, of Eliot; nephews, Todd and Mathew Tobey of Castine and Sedgwick; cousin, Janet Williams, of Sedgwick; and many other close friends and relatives. She will also be missed by her two beloved cats, Sidney and Simon. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Clifton Hooper.

While Phil was park manager, Pat was deeply involved in Friends of Holbrook Island Sanctuary. She was also an active member of the Giving Hands, which donates baby bags to needy children and blankets and pillow cases to cancer patients; Meals for ME; and Brooksville Free Public Library.

Funeral services, led by Allen Myers, will be held at West Brooksville Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, followed by a gathering of family and friends in the church vestry. Private burial of ashes will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
