Obituary for James Blake Thomas MD

Penobscot, ME -- James Blake Thomas, 87, of Penobscot, died June 16, 2018, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born July 17, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Blake Ferris Thomas (1899-1969) and Edith Anna Thomas nee Klopp (1905-1982).

A graduate of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Class of 1952, Jim received his Ph.D. in Anatomy from The George Washington University in 1962; and his M.D. from Michigan State University in 1972.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, the Rev. Margaret A. (Peg) Thomas; son, David Thomas of Lansing, Michigan; son, Christopher Thomas, and his wife, Kathleen, and their son Blake of Petoskey, Michigan; and daughter, Anne Geggie, and wife, Barbara Watkins of Columbus, Ohio. Grandson Blake will enter Wabash College this fall as part of the Class of 2022.

The funeral service will be at Trinity Episcopal Church, Castine, Maine on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow from Noon – 2 pm, at The Pentagoet Inn in Castine.

Interment will be private at the family cemetery in Penobscot.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Trinity Episcopal Church at P.O. Box 433, Castine, ME 04421; or to the charity of one’s choosing.
