Obituary for Daphne Rosenzweig Hinchcliffe (Rosenzweig )

Sedgwick -- Daphne Rosenzweig Hinchcliffe passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her home. She was born in Israel, immigrated with her family to New York and then to San Diego in 1952.

She received a degree from UC Berkeley in the turbulent 60's, developing a profound sense of social and moral consciousness. Daphne went on to graduate school obtaining a degree in Physical Therapy, with a specialty in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She spent most of her professional life working with infants and children with a variety of physical disabilities. She traveled extensively developing her skills and teaching them to others.

Daphne met her late husband in Maine in 1972 while attending a Physical Therapy workshop. She and Tom moved to Maryland where Daphne taught at the University of Maryland Medical School. After a few years she convinced Tom to pack his wood working tools and drove to San Diego County to be close to her family. After several years they returned to Maine where they settled.

Daphne and Tom were avid collectors of early Americana. They became well known for their beautiful Farm Tables that Tom built from antique wood. Daphne ran the business that they opened and they became well known with customers and friends all over the country. As much as Daphne was a California girl in spirit, her heart and soul were in Maine to the very end.

Daphne was a trusted professional, a deeply caring person and a profoundly devoted mate and friend. Those left behind will miss her smile, spirit and contagious laughter. However, the memories will be cherished forever. She made a positive impact on all who were lucky to know her.

She is survived by her brother Steve Rosenzweig and his spouse, Joan of Potomac, MD; her step daughter, Barbara Hinchcliffe, of Everett, Washington. She was pre-deceased by her spouse, Thomas Charles Hinchcliffe and her parents Ray and Leo Rosenzweig.

Burial for Daphne and Tom was held on June 1, 2018 at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Brooksville.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 15, 2018.

Donations in her memory may be made to HOSPICE Volunteers of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Ave, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or Tree of Life Food Pantry, 23 South St. Blue Hill, ME 04614.
