Hilda Louise  Leighton
Hilda Louise Leighton, 92, died March 30, 2018 in Bar Harbor. She was born November 26, 1925 on Campobello Island, the daughter of Peter Scott and Julia (Searles) Malloch.

Hilda grew up on Campobello Island. When she and Walter married in 1944, they made their home in Lubec. On September 3, 1963 they moved to Southwest Harbor with their three children. In 1972 Hilda and Walter bought The Harbor Light Inn, in Southwest Harbor, which they operated for 15 years.

Hilda attended the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church and the Corner Stone Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two sons; Peter Leighton and wife, Christine of Kildeer, IL and Craig Leighton and wife, Lynn of Ellsworth, one daughter, Lori Black and husband, Stanley of West Tremont. Five grandchildren; Scott and Lauren Leighton, Christopher Leighton, Erin LaFreniere and husband, Peter and Chelsea Black.

Friends are invited to call 10-11AM, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert, where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM. Interment will be 11:00AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Olsen Cemetery, Lubec.
