Condolence From: Ben Haskell
Condolence: To Martha & Iris and Family, So sorry to hear of Helen's passing. What a long, fully packed life she led and so much of it with her beloved Richard. For eight years Helen and I were colleagues in the high pressure, but totally satisfying business of Radio Broadcasting in Ellsworth, ME. What a ride it was bringing WDEA AM/FM into the highly competitive Bangor, ME Market. After leaving Dudman Communications, I believe we became even better friends and I was always a joy to see Helen and Richard at the Husson University Christmas party or other random places or events in the Broadcast World. It was always with a hug from Helen and a "how are your girls?" and a handshake from Richard. In 2010, I will never forget when she and Richard showed up for the Sunday chapel service at Islesboro,Little Cranberry Island, to hear my daughter preach. How thoughtful was that. We had a great visit after church. There are many memories but none so meaningful as the impact Helen had on my life and career as she gave me the chance to program her stations and then move on to educating young people in Communications at NESCom. She was always very happy for me and my success in the higher education field. She was a grand lady and I will miss her and her special Christmas Cards each year. Downeast Maine will not be the same with the Dudman's!
