Obituary for Cathy Lynn "Gigi" Pinkham (Thompson)

Cathy Lynn "Gigi" Pinkham (Thompson)
Surry -- Cathy Lynn “Gigi” Pinkham, 66, died unexpectedly January 21, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Dexter, November 09, 1951 the daughter of Robert F. and Maxine E. (Lord) Thompson.

She was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. In 1970 she married Philip (Sledge) Leyendecker and they traveled to Japan where he was stationed with the Navy. Together they have a daughter, Shanon. Later she married Rod Pinkham who became a wonderful stepfather to her daughter.

Cathy worked in the banking industry for years always telling stories about her friends and co-workers at the First National Bank and Key Bank in Ellsworth. She worked several years in finance at Friend and Friend and when she wasn’t bartending at Pepper’s Pub she was busy taking care of several elderly clients in Bar Harbor, who she thought of as family; taking care of them, cleaning, running errands and always entertaining. She had several housekeeping clients as well and worked part time at Irving.

She appreciated a good new movie release as well as old black and white classics. She loved playing cards and cribbage and was an amazing cook. She will never be described as being submissive, but as intelligent and genuine. Her wit would astound you and her sense of humor always left you laughing or with a smile. She made friends everywhere she went and was easily the life of many a party. She expected to be called “Pretty Cathy” and was never afraid to laugh at herself. She and her daughter enjoyed their annual Camden trips to celebrate their birthdays. “Gigi” was very proud of her grandchildren, Cote, Morgan and Maddie and loved her grand dogs, Camden and Colby. Cathy enjoyed her friends immensely and camping at Donnell’s Pond. She was a sucker for a pet in need and a supporter of Boxer Rescue.

She is survived by her daughter, Shanon Leyendecker Card; grandchildren, Cote Card, Morgan Card and Madison Card all of Ellsworth; sister, Marcia Farwell and husband Edward of Ellsworth; nieces, Jacquelyn and Denice of Buxton; nephew Edward of Boston; brothers, Fred Thompson and wife Susan of Bucksport; niece Renee of North Carolina, Marshall Thompson and wife Rosa of Eddington, nephew Robert of Eddington and niece Ellen of Portland and a childhood and lifelong friend, Joan Cottle-Dinsmore of Ellsworth. She was predeceased by parents, Maxine and Robert Thompson and loving son-in-law, James B. Card III.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, January 30, 2018 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. A spring graveside service will be held at Woodbine Cemetery.

Contributions in Cathy’s memory may be made to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton 04605
