Obituary for Gregory Roger Jordan

Gregory Roger Jordan
Waltham -- Gregory Roger Jordan, age 63, passed away unexpectedly doing what he loved, hunting with his sons, on November 21, 2017. He was born to Roger and Marjorie (Frost) Jordan, November 11, 1954 in Bangor, Maine. He was raised in Waltham where he settled down not far from his childhood home.

He served 33 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard, having been deployed multiple times including to Zaire, Africa in 1978, North Dakota during Desert Storm in 1991, and in Kirkuk, Iraq during Operation Iraq Freedom in 2005. He worked for 30 years for the State of Maine at the Bangor International Airport as a fireman eventually retiring as an Assistant Chief. He served his community as the Waltham Volunteer Fire Chief, a town selectman, and a member of the planning board, as well being the assistant leader of the Jolly Juniors 4-H club alongside his wife, Brenda. Gregg was also a member of the Ellsworth Elks Club.

Gregg was also an avid outdoorsman, having worked in the woods cutting trees since he was a child all the way up to the time he passed. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family every August working the blueberry fields, always calling it “family bonding.” Gregg enjoyed the land that he farmed with his family, hunting, fishing, and long four-wheeler rides with his dog Brooke. He loved going on the lobster boat with his best buddy, Butch Nichols and playing cribbage with Danny Jordan.

Gregg is survived by his loving wife Brenda Fletcher Jordan, along with his three children Jeremiah and his wife Charlotte, Katherine, and Keith. Bumpa will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren Lucas, Jocelyn, and Olivia. He is survived by his sisters, Judy Brown and her husband Cubby, Joanne Hamilton and her husband Ron, Linda Ronnquist and her husband Malcolm, and his brother, Rick Jordan and his wife Julie. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces as well as a very large Frost and Jordan family. Gregg was predeceased by his parents and son Timothy Ryan.

Gregg loved having lobster feeds and blueberry pie, his mom’s lemon cheesecake, going out for breakfast, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, watching football with his boys, working with his son, Jeremiah, riding with his dog to check out the blueberry fields, and so much more.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Gregg’s memory can be sent to the Waltham-Eastbrook Scholarship Foundation at 1499 Waltham Road, Waltham, ME 04605.
