Foley, AL and Bass Harbor -- Eileen Holmes, 92, of Foley, AL, and Bass Harbor, Maine, died unexpectedly after a short illness, September, 28, 2017 at a Foley hospital. Eileen was born February 4, 1925 in Bellingham MA the daughter of Charles A. and Myrtle A. (Collins) Sanford.

Eileen married her sweetheart, L. Hilton Holmes on December 31, 1944. Hilton predeceased her in 2014.

Eileen is survived by her 2 children, Karen Godbout & partner Jan Beal, (owners of Maine-ly Delights), Bass Harbor & Nokomis, FL; David Holmes & wife Ann, of Foley, AL; and 2 grandchildren, Jean-David Godbout of Cleveland, OH, and Michelle Blevins of Houston, TX.

A memorial service was held at Kingdom Hall, Foley, AL on Saturday, Sept. 30. A graveside service will be held 10am, Sat., October 14, 2017 at McKinley Cemetery in Bass Harbor A reception will follow, at 50 Granville Road, Bass Harbor.
