Obituary for Estelle Elaine LaPlante (Poitras)


Estelle Elaine LaPlante, 80, died at home, September 27, 2017. She was born in Danielson, Ct., the daughter of Luc and Clara Poitras. She graduated from Putnam Catholic Academy. Estelle married Joseph LaPlante on November 22, 1955 and they resided in Danielson, CT., where she raised her family.

She worked at St. James Rectory as a cook and was involved in many ministries in the church. She moved to Manset, ME in 1988. Estelle was the head of religious education at St. Peters Church.

Estelle is survived by her husband Joseph and four children; Theresa Whither and husband Bill of Augusta, Michael LaPlante and his partner Deb Choquette, Suzanne Bouthillier and husband, Danny and Elizabeth Tavernier and husband Bruce. She also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Estelle was predeceased by a son, Tony LaPlante and by seven siblings.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial Mass will be held11:00AM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Peters Catholic Church, Southwest Harbor.
