Elaine Leafy "Lanie"  Overlock (Ranquist)
Bass Harbor -- Elaine (Lanie) L. Overlock, 72, died peacefully on September 3rd, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born on August 26th, 1945 to Charles and Nellie (Kent) Ranquist of Swan’s Island.

There, Lanie spent most of her growing up years where she eventually raised her three sons. Later, she moved to Bass Harbor where she lived for many years alongside her sister Betty and her family as well as her brother Sam. Lanie will always be remembered for her dedication to her family and for her infectious laugh. She always was the life of any gathering and did her best to make her family smile right up until the last few days of her life. Those who knew her knew that she was one of a kind and will miss her terribly.

Lanie is survived by 3 sons, Dwayne Overlock and fiancé Becky, Danny Overlock and wife Kristy, Michael Overlock and wife Christine; as well as daughter-in-law, Lisa. She also adored her grandchildren, Brittany, Alex, Amanda, Sloan, Catherine, Logan, Drew, and Verronika; great-grandchildren, Meara, Bayleigh, and Keane, and the one that is on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Rosalie Ranquist; and friend Dean Mitchell; along with many other special friends, nieces, nephews and cousins who were such an important part of her life. Lanie was predeceased by her parents; brothers and sisters, Herbert, Elbert, Charles, James, Carlton, Frederick, Freda, Beverly, and Betty as well as her granddaughter Jennie Rose.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, the Mary Dow Center, and Community Health and Counseling Services for their dedication.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:30, October 7, 2017 at the Tremont School, 119 Tremont Road, Bass Harbor. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Mary Dow Center, 50 Union Street, Ellsworth, 04605.
