Tremont -- Constance (Connie) Johnson, 87, died August 15th in Ellsworth after a brief illness. She was born in Seal Cove, September 14th, 1929, the daughter of Byron Campbell and Mary (Bartlett) Campbell.

Connie attended grammar school in Seal Cove and high school at Pemetic High School in Southwest Harbor. Connie was married to Charles Wilder Johnson in December 1946. Connie spent her life living and working on Mount Dessert Island. She started her career cleaning summer cottages in Northeast Harbor for Annie Maclean. She then worked for many many years for the William Bell Watkins family on the shore of Seal Cove. She finished her career with Clement and Linda McGillicuddy managing their summer home in Northeast Harbor.

Connie was a voracious reader, a master at jig saw puzzles, and made several hundred Christmas wreaths for sale over the years, as well as for our family's front doors each and every Christmas. Her venison mincemeat pie recipe was a well guarded secret. She made many meals for the various local fundraisers and generally was the ever-present solid ground for her three rambunctious sons.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great- grand mother.

Connie is survived by her sister Charlotte Campbell of San Diego, CA, son Charles Johnson and wife Frances, son Carlton Johnson and partner Kathryn, son Curtis Johnson and wife Yvonne; three grandchildren, Charles II, Katie and Alex, and one great granddaughter Emma. She was a special Aunt to Marilyn and many nieces and nephews.
Connie was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles, brothers Walter and Ernest and sisters Thelma and Gladys.

A graveside service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Center Cemetery near the old family homestead in Seal Cove, officiated by Rev. Nick White.

In lieu of flowers, Connie would like gifts in her memory made to the Southwest/Tremont Ambulance Fund, PO Box 437, Southwest Harbor, 04679.
