Obituary for Elsie Virginia Lunt (Reed)

Elsie Virginia Lunt (Reed)
Southwest Harbor -- On August 3, 2017, Elsie (Virginia) Reed Lunt passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 91. She was born in Hall Quarry on September 4, 1925. She was known for her spunky spirit and sense of humor. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Lyle Arlington and Flavilla Gott Reed, her husband Clarence L. Lunt and brother, Kenneth Reed. She was embraced by her loving parents and husband and taken to her heavenly home at 3:40 PM. She leaves two sons, Brian L. Lunt of Veazie, Cary B. Lunt of Bass Harbor and many family and friends that she spoke of often.

She graduated from Pemetic High School in Southwest Harbor, Maine in the class of 1944. Elsie had a long career as a bookkeeper. Elsie met Clarence while working for the Machiasport Canning Company in Bass Harbor. Clarence took her on one movie date at the Criterion, he didn’t like movies much. Mom said they took to each other right off.

She always looked forward to the yearly Pemetic reunions. She was involved with the Eastern Stars and the Tremont Historical Society for many years. For years she would spend her days crocheting lap afghan’s for the Veteran’s home in Bangor. She also enjoyed her many road trips with her son, Brian. As a child her favorite actor was Tom Mix, her favorite singer lately was Daniel O’Donnell.

Mom, I will never forget all the sacrifices you made for me. I love you and will see you all again on the other side.

Friends are invited to call 1:00-3:00PM, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Interment will be at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elsie’s name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Maine, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
