The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Dudman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Fyjis-Walker, Gabriele
Condolence: Dearest Helen
I have tried to call you today to hear your voice and to tell you how very sorry I am that your beloved Dick has fallen asleep.
Our memories of him are so manyfold but the best ones must be connected with our dinners in your house in Washington and our stay with you in Ellsworth. You were such generous hosts and we treasured every minute with you.
I would love to talk to you on the phone but the numbers I have in my address book do not answer any longer. Would you mind sending me an up-to-date one, please.
Keep very well, dearest friend. My heart goes out to you and I send you much love and my condolences.
Gaby

Condolence: Richard Dudman provided me with with wise counsel and valuable mentorship at a key moment in my evolution as a writer more than 35 years ago, not to mention numerous introductions to important people in Washington, at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and throughout journalism. I am deeply grateful that my life path crossed with a human being of his values and vision at that moment. My condolences to his family. I will always remember him.

Condolence: I had never heard of Richard Dudman until I moved to Ellsworth in 1982 as WKSQ (Kiss 94) was launched. So there I was, reading news on Kiss--and Richard Dudman was doing the same on WDEA. No contest. I had heard of Mr. Dudman's journalistic career---and thought he would be intimidating when I first met him. Nothing could be further from the truth. He was a complete gentleman and humble--and afforded a young kid a level of professional respect that I certainly hadn't earned yet. He will be missed--to Helen and Martha and rest of family, my sincere condolences and I hope that great memories will provide comfort and strength

Condolence: Richard Dudman, a neighbor of my family in Cleveland Park in the 1960s, was the one of the first journalists I ever met, when I was a kid just beginning to figure out what journalism was. And so was Helen. Both role models for many! My condolences to the family. I have many fond memories of the Dudmans.
