Charles T.   Leavitt
Ellsworth -- Charles T. Leavitt, 86, died peacefully June 9, 2017 in Ellsworth surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brunswick, June 3, 1931 the son of Charles and Madeline (Holbrook) Leavitt, Jr.

He was a longtime resident of Ellsworth. He owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store for many years with his wife, Barbara and children. He was very active in local politics as well as the Republican Party, and served as Mayor of Ellsworth. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by children, Michael, Kathleen and Roger, Valerie and husband William, Kimberly and husband Mark; grandchildren, Nik Robbins, Joe Gallagher, Michael Leavitt, Jr., Aimee Spaulding, Chad Leavitt, Frank Pellerin, Richard Pellerin III, William Peasley III, Leon Peasley, Erin Peasley, and Daniel and Allyson Hayden; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernard “Jack” Leavitt, Bonnie Pardue, and Patrick Grover; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife of 56 years, Barbara Williams Leavitt; daughter, Patrice; brothers, Dudley, and Robert; sisters, Sandra and Donna.

Calling hours will be held 4:00-7:00pm, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 13th at St. Joseph Church, 231 Main St. Ellsworth. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Charles’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 231 Main Street, Ellsworth 04605.
