Obituary for Fred Trimble
BLUE HILL--Fred Trimble, a ten-year resident of Parker Ridge retirement community in Blue Hill, died peacefully on April 15. He was born in Decatur, AL, on March 7, 1920, the second of four sons of J. Claude Trimble and Freda Smith Trimble.
He was an engineering graduate of Auburn University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He later earned a master’s degree in business from the University of Alabama.
Mr. Trimble served in WWII as a Navy lieutenant, a salvage officer and deep-sea diver, in both the Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters of War. He participated in the invasions of both Southern France and the island of Elba.
He was an engineer in the copper tubing industry for 31 years. He then formed Trimble Engineering Co., a consulting firm. He retired in 1990.
Mr. Trimble swam laps daily for 35 years. Also, he taught mathematics for 15 years to people pursuing a GED. He delivered Meals on Wheels to as many as 36 people weekly.
Mr. Trimble was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur, AL, as were his parents and grandparents. After his move to Maine, he became a devoted member of Brooksville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Carol Gardien Trimble; by two daughters, Carol Trimble (George Orzel) of Lamoine, and Claudia Luchini (Andy) of Ellsworth; and a son Frederick Trimble (Jacky) of Alden, MI; by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Z Trimble of Tempe, AZ; five nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gardien of Washington, D.C., and a brother-in-law, Edmund Gardien of Medellin, Colombia.
A funeral will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Parker Ridge in Blue Hill.
