Brooklin -- Mary Ann (Allen) Matthews, 84, died April 10, 2017 at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sedgwick, February 13, 1933, daughter of Albert P. and Katherine (Sanborn) Allen.

She grew up in Sedgwick and moved to Brooklin in the 1980’s. She spent her life raising her children and welcoming the neighborhood children in. She was a member of the South Blue Hill Baptist Church. She was a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, Sunday school teacher, assisted with the youth group pizza parties and clam bakes. Her love of God gave her much strength and love for life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Denice Sargent and husband Bill, Frederick Allen, Jr., and wife Reneé, Clarence Allen and wife Priscilla, Stephen Allen, and Bruce Allen and wife Jody; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Polly Gray and Lois Allen and husband Paul; special friends, Mike and Elaine Belinsky and Horace Varnum. She was predeceased by her parents; husband and father of her children, Frederick A. Allen, Sr.; husband, Lawrence Matthews; brother, Orville Sanborn; sisters, Beverly Watts and Doris Webb.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, April 22, 2017 at the South Blue Hill Baptist Church.
