Richard A.  Stanley
Machias - Richard A. Stanley, 66, died unexpectedly April 1, 2017. He was born in 1950 in Boston Massachusetts, the son of Francis A. Stanley Sr. and Margaret F. (Souther) Stanley of Islesford, Maine.

Richard graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School and following graduation served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Diesel Mechanic in the 33rd Engineering Battalion. After returning home he and his family moved back to Islesford, Maine, the island where his ancestors came from, where he was a lobster fisherman buying a boat and naming her the Dawn Marie after one of his godchildren. He loved fishing and taught all his nieces and nephews how to fish. He was devoted to his family and was always thinking of them and teaching them.

He is survived by his sisters, Gail Stanley of Machias, Mary Silverman and husband Al of Seal Harbor; his brothers, Robert Stanley, Joseph Stanley, and Francis Stanley all of Machias; nieces, Jennifer Nickola and Meghan Bergeron; and nephews, Andrew Stanley, Kenneth Silverman, Patrick Stanley and Brian Silverman. He was predeceased by his mother and father as well as his brother James Stanley.

A service of remembrance will be held in June 2017 on Islesford, Maine.
