Salisbury Cove, ME -- Rosemarie (Caron) Baker, 89, died February 2, 2017 at MDI Hospital. She was born April 2, 1927, in Island Falls, ME., the daughter of Peter and Leona (Michaud) Caron.

Rosemarie grew up in Plainville, MA. She was a basketball star in high school. She married Florent “Tony” Baker on September 13, 1947 and they raised three children. She also was a waitress at her mother, Leona’s restaurant and she and her husband, Tony, operated Star Pools, Inc. from 1962-1977. In 1978 they moved to Bar Harbor, ME and operated the Bell Isle Motel from 1978-1992. They wintered in Umatilla, Florida from 1987-2016. Rosemarie was a communicant of Holy Redeemer Church in Bar Harbor. She enjoyed knitting, bird watching, puzzles and was an accomplished baker and cook.

Rosemarie is survived by her husband, Florent “Tony” Baker, their 70th anniversary would have been this year. Daughters; Denise Estey and husband, Steve of Dennis, MA and Jacqueline Baker and husband Ronald Mancini of Manchester Center, VT., son Gerald Baker and wife, Beverly of Rehoboth, MA. Six grandchildren; Rebecca Estey, Suzanne Ashworth, Jonathan Estey, Aaron Baker, Emile Baker-Hassan and Samuel Baker and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Janette Daniels and Geraldine Lawson.

Friends are invited to call 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor. Funeral services and burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park in Sharon, MA, on Wednesday, February 8, at 2:00 PM.
