Marguerite A. Gilley, 83, died January 5, 2017 at her home. She was born November 30, 1933 at Hartland the daughter of Howard and Alida L. (Marshall) Ames.

Marguerite graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1951 and married Jack H. Gilley in 1959. She worked for many years at MDI Hospital as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement in 1998. Over the years, Marguerite was an avid reader and especially enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. Marguerite had been a member of the Eugene M. Norwood, Post 69 Auxiliary and the Trenton and Southwest Harbor Historical Society.

Marguerite is survived by her husband, Jack H. Gilley Sr.; son Jack H. Gilley, Jr. and fiancée, Cheryl of Franklin; two daughters, Ellen Stanley and husband Frank of West Tremont and Laura Sullivan and husband Donald of Southwest Harbor; a brother Dale M. Ames; seven grandchildren, Kyle and Shannon Stanley, Jessie, Melinda and Jillian Gilley, Aaron and Shelby Sullivan, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large extended family and special friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles A. Ames in 2000.

A memorial service will be held, 1PM, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Spring interment will be at Leland Cemetery, Trenton. Those who desire may make contributions in Marguerite's memory to the Trenton Historical Society, PO Box 132, Trenton, 04605
