Obituary for James Freeman "Jimmy" Closson

Ellsworth -- James Freeman Closson, 79, passed away peacefully Christmas evening after ending his long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia. He was born an April Fools baby in 1937, the son of Elizabeth (Starkey) and Harry Closson.

He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. James was a veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an accomplished welder retiring from Pratt & Whitney. An avid fisherman “Jimmy” was most known for his never ending sense of humor and natural ability to make people laugh.

He is survived by his brother, Charles Chattley, Jr.; many nieces, nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in his journey by his parents; stepfather, Charles Chattley, Sr.; adoring wife, Erma Closson; and loving sister, Judith Lindsey.

Services will be private.
