Obituary for Geraldine Elva Turner

Swans Island
Geraldine Elva Turner, 84, died April 28, 2015 in Bar Harbor. She was born August 17, 1930 in Stonington, daughter of Benjamin Haskell and Essie (Billings) Haskell.
Geraldine was a loving, caring, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved education & teaching her grandchildren & neighborhood kids to read and do math. She spent every day reading her Bible, doing puzzles & writing. She left Little Deer Isle at 18 years of age & married her husband Buddy, whom she met through writing letters through a church social group. She spent the rest of her life on Swans Island & past 2 years at Sonogee Rehab and Nursing Facility.
She is survived by her son, Theodore L. Turner and wife, Bonnie and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen M. Turner all of Swans Island; three brothers, Milton Haskell and wife Priscilla of Deer Isle, Douglas Haskell and wife Linda and Frank Haskell and wife Polly, all of Little Deer Isle; grandchildren, Angela Tapley & husband Gary, Galen A. Turner & wife Jennifer, Jenny M. Turner; great-grandchildren, Joshua B. Turner, Ashley Tapley and Wyatt Tapley, all of Swans Island. Geraldine was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Theodore A. Turner; a son, Galen B. Turner; her parents Benjamin & Essie Haskell
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
